The value of Early Intervention services is immeasurable to many of the families served through the program. One such case is of a child who was referred to Early Intervention at four months old. At the time of referral he did not have functional vision and did not respond to sounds consistently in his environment. Also at this time, he was placed in foster care and later adopted by his foster parents.
Through Early Intervention, he received Occupational Therapy, Vision Services, Physical Therapy and Family Training. He progressed quickly and continued to thrive; meeting all developmental milestones by the time he was fourteen (14) months old. He was re-evaluated and discharged from the program due to his success and progress. He is now running and playing, and will point to and name a variety of objects and colors. His parents will tell you his favorite activity is to play outside and sing songs.
